All three identification methods involve the automatic verification of the documents uploaded to CRIMNET, the centralized platform of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice, and therefore the absence of a complaint, theft, or loss on them. In addition, they follow the steps codified by the Bank of Italy in the provision on Adequate Customer Due Diligence to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.

Upon completion of the video identification with a positive outcome, a process audit and timestamp will be issued that attests to the date and time of execution, both from the user's side and the operator's side.

The recognition procedure for all three services is extremely flexible and customizable. The only mandatory field during the request phase is the applicant's email address. However, it is possible, though not required, to also provide the following information:

• First Name (firstName)
• Last Name (lastName)
• Gender (gender)
• Country of Birth (birthCountry)
• Date of Birth (birthDate)
• Place of Birth (birthPlace)
• Tax Code Number (taxCode)
• Phone Number (phoneNumber)
• Health Card (healthCard)

Additionally, it is possible to provide a link to your privacy policy (policy) and customize the identification interface (layout), including the title, logo, footer, text color, background, and favicon.

Currently, three types of video identification are available:

1) AUTOMATIC VIDEO IDENTIFICATION (POST /IT_automatic)

Users can complete the video recognition process independently at any time of day. The identification process is predefined, and the user must:

• Upload documents
• Take a photo
• Create a short video for liveness verification

The platform automatically performs OCR checks and video/document verification to validate user identity and liveness.

2) SELFIE VIDEO IDENTIFICATION (POST /IT_selfie)

The Selfie service is very similar to the previous procedure. The user must:

• Upload documents
• Take a photo
• Create a short video for liveness verification

Unlike the previous mode, verification is no longer done through an automatic system but by back-office operators in an asynchronous mode.

3) LIVE VIDEO IDENTIFICATION WITH OPERATOR (POST /IT_live)

The third service is the most used and guarantees a real-time experience with human support. The entire procedure takes place live, with an operator verifying the user's identity.

The response for all three requests will include:

• the request id
• the link to complete the video identification
• the status of the request
• the message indicating for which type of video identification that link is valid (or the reason for the request error)

The documents that can be used for identification purposes are:

• Identity card
• Driving licence
• Passport 

Video recognition services can currently be used for the identification of Italian citizens, regardless of their residence, who possess one of the documents indicated above and are valid.

The Video Identification service is particularly useful for digital onboarding activities, commercial, financial, and banking operations.

Live Video identifications are available from Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 to 18:00 (excluding public holidays), and are conducted by operators within the European Community.
